John LaCava is a Santa Fe–based guitarist, singer, and songwriter whose sound cuts across the usual one-lane genre label. An award-winning songwriter and veteran performer, John’s music blends old school soulful R&B, blues, Americana and folk- rock traditions.
John has performed locally at the New Mexico State Fair, the Santa Fe Plaza Summer Series, Ski Santa Fe, Sky Railway, Tumbleroot, The Cowgirl, and co-hosts a weekly blues residency at Evangelos, Santa Fe’s iconic music club. He is also the lead guitarist and a singer in the popular Santa Fe group Randolph and the Variants and the acoustic trio Las Cavas.
Whether recreating classic covers, or singing his own tunes, his performances are less about imitation and more about uncovering the emotional core of a song and making it his own with his unique, rough-hewn bluesy voice.
